The long-awaited full-length trailer of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” premiered today.

What did we learn from the new trailer?

About the plot, not much.

However, the trailer for the seventh installment in the “Star Wars” franchise prominently features a new character, Rey (Daisy Ridley). From the amount of screen time she received in those two and a half minutes, we can assume that she will be our new protagonist.

The trailer begins with Rey scavenging through a wrecked spacecraft. She is then seen walking through sand dunes in company with BB-8, the adorable roly-poly robot.

As the film opens, an unseen female voice asks “Who are you?” To which Rey replies, “I’m no one.”

These lines add mystery to Rey’s character and leaves viewers believing she is destined for something great.

From the various action-packed scenes shown in the trailer we know that Rey will not take on the role of damsel in distress.

Though very little is yet known about Rey, thanks to the official Star Wars Databank we do know that she’s “a resilient survivor, a scavenger toughened by a lifetime of dealing with the cutthroats of the harsh desert world of Jakku.”

We also know that Princess Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) will also return as she is seen reunited with Han Solo (Harrison Ford).

Noticeably absent from the trailer is Maz Kanata, a fully CGI character played by Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o via motion capture. Read more about her character here.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will premiere in theatres on Dec. 18, tickets are on sale now.
